Ummm... I went crazy a few weeks ago and said that I really, really wanted a van Something name. Or van de. Or van der... I suppose you get the point. Said that my ultimate plan in life was to marry a van Whatever guy. Trav decided that having a van name would be awesome too, cuz vans make everything cool.

So he found the name somewhere on teh interwebs whilst I bothered all my friends... and Gerda laughed at me, cuz the van thing is very dutch and she just moved here from the Netherlands a few years ago.

Also, it was partially inspired to make people think we're A) insane and B) married. Cuz that's just fun.

Yeah and I only came up with it just to see if I could come up with a solution to the too many friends issue that makes me hate all these social things going viral atm. I have no real interest in seeing how people would try to screw it all up. Just knowing it would probably work if the UI was done right is enough to satisfy my curiosity in the subject XD.

Well its currently facebook and will probably be facebook for a while.

I had a cool idea to be a twist on these social sites. Where instead of everyone being a friend or a stranger, it was more based on the whole concept of 6 degrees of seperation, where my friends would appear as a second level of friends on your account where you see progressively less details about them (probably nothing by default after 3 but settings would obv. be available for the crazy people.) I'm pretty sure if I worked really hard on building, polishing, and promoting it, that I could be a contender for the leap off Facebook. But I don't really wanna get into that market, its already too crowded and really only supports one or two big guys at a time and even then not for long.
